School is just around the corner. Where has the time gone?!?  This means moms, dads, and caretakers are going to have to get back on the lunchbox packing grind.  Whether you are packing a lunch for your kid's first day of school or looking for inspiration as to what to put in your kids lunch that's healthy and delicious, you my friend, have come to the right place. Today we are going to talk about 5 reasons why cheese is perfect for your kids lunch.

1.  It’s healthy

Cheese has an abundance of calcium, protein, and other vitamins which makes it a healthy and tasty snack.  Not only that but it helps build and maintain strong bones and teeth.  It can actually prevent your teeth from getting cavities. Cheese is what’s known as a whole food.  Whole foods are generally good for you, as long as you don’t eat too much of one thing (as they always say, everything in moderation).  Additionally, dairy products, such as cheese are known to have a positive effect on cardiovascular health. Cheese appears to provide a great amount of nutrition and have anti-inflammatory properties.  All good things we want for our kiddos!

2.  It's easy and mess-free

Cheese is the perfect snack to send along with your kid to school because it's easy.  If you’re a mom or dad getting everyone out of bed, brushing teeth, wiping noses, and packing lunches all before the sun rises, you get it!  With cheese, there's no prep required.  Cheese is as easy as 1. Take it out of the fridge.  2. Pack it into the lunchbox.  3. Eat and enjoy :)

3.  It keeps well

This year, it’s time to start avoiding foods that will get crumbled, soggy, and come home uneaten. Cheese is perfect because it keeps all day and is mess-free. Parents with little kids can all agree that no crumbs = no problem.  Cheese is a great option as it’s easy to pack in tupperware, it stays cool all day next to an ice pack, and is conveniently bite size for little mouths.  Gone are the days that we are packing messy lunches that crumble and stain clothes. Level up your lunchbox game and pack cheese!

4.  It’s affordable…especially if you make it yourself

On average, the cost of making cheese at home is about a quarter that of buying it in a supermarket. Remember, when you make your own you only pay for the ingredients; when you buy it from the store you're also paying for packaging, store mark-up, freight and marketing.  Cheese Maker’s mozza kit gives you 40lbs of cheese for only $50! That makes each batch of cheese only $1.25!

5.  It’s fun

Packing a few fun shapes in your kids lunch is guaranteed to bring cheesy smiles to their faces!  I recommend cutting and shaping the cheese for upcoming holidays! Use cookie cutters to cut the cheese into hearts for Valentines day, pumpkins for Halloween, and Christmas trees for Christmas.  This kid-friendly project is simple and above all, fun!
